Obituary

Antone S. Souza, age 89 of Fall River. Passed away February 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Natalie (Medeiros) Souza. Born in Fall River, son of the late Jacinto and Caroline (Souza) Souza. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Church and a member of its St. Vincent de Paul & Holy Name Societies. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of WW II. Before retiring, Tony worked as a presser for the former Anderson Little Co. for 28 years.

Tony was a Flight Radio Operator who served in the China Burma India Theater, and received numerous decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross, of which he was most proud.

Tony was a self-taught professional in many fields, including carpentry, fishing, photography, gardening, and music. Thanks to his skill in photography, his family will treasure the photos of many happy family memories.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Patricia “Patti” Pochon of Fall River, and Deborah Desmarais of Swansea. Four grandchildren: Sarah & Natalie Talbot, Joshua Pochon, & Caroline Hatch. Many nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late beloved Mary Natalie Talbot, and brother of the late Manuel & John Souza, & Mary Tavares Almeida.

The family especially wishes to thank the staff at St. Anne’s Hospital Cardiac Rehab. including Dixie, Mara, & Derrick, for all of their kindness and loving care over the last 10 years.

His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. on Friday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday 4-8 P.M.
