WORCESTER__ Jadwiga (Mackiewicz) Subocz, 88, of Worcester, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Michael Subocz died in 1980.
She leaves a daughter, Jadwiga “Terry” Ortiz and her husband Jose E., of Worcester; three grandchildren, Joseph Ortiz and Ramona Gallant both of Worcester and Christina Ortiz of Barre; seven great- grandchildren, Jonathan, Charles, Lucas, Selena, Rozalynn, Jordan and Joseph, Jr., a sister, Helena Kozakiewicz, three nieces, one nephew, three grand-nieces and four grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Subocz and a sister, Regina Grab. She was born in Poland, a daughter of Julian and Weronica (Mackiewicz) Mackiewicz and moved to the United States in 1961.
Mrs. Subocz was educated in Poland and worked as a seamstress for many years at Hersch Neckwear Co., before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. She enjoyed spending time in her garden.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 19, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. prior to processing to church for the funeral Mass. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, February 18, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
