Earl G. Rittenhouse, 83, a longtime resident of Stoughton, Canton and Summerville, SC, died Monday, February 9 at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC. He was the beloved husband of Arlene K. (Knight) Rittenhouse. Born in Scranton, PA, Mr. Rittenhouse was a graduate of PA schools and also from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Rittenhouse was a resident of Summerville, SC for the past 12 years, previously living in Stoughton for 10 years and Canton for 22 years. He worked as an engineer for Bird Machine Company in South Walpole for many years and retired in 1978. A handyman, in his free time he enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; N. Kate Guerard and her husband Michael, Kevin Rittenhouse and his long-time girlfriend Caryn Imbrogna all of Stoughton, Mary D. Rittenhouse & James G. Rittenhouse both of IN and the late Rev. David A. Rittenhouse. He was the Loving Grandfather of Jessie Dyer, Christopher Dyer, Christine Guerard, Michael Guerard, Megan Guerard and Kevin P. Rittenhouse. He was the former husband of the late Mary D. (Foran).
Funeral Services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne on Friday at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 5-8 PM. Due to floral restrictions at cemetery, donations in Earl‘s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Toys for Tots, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172 .
