Irene S. (Oczkowski) Gagnon, 73 years old, a lifelong resident of Greater Lowell, died Saturday, February 14, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of Richard J Gagnon with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage last year.
Born in Chelmsford on September 28, 1935 she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Stella (Musial) Oczkowski. Mrs. Gagnon was educated in the Chelmsford schools and received an Associates degree from Lowell Commercial College.
Following college, Mrs.Gagnon worked for Raytheon where she met her husband. After she left Raytheon, she worked for many years for Brooks Machinery in Lowell as a secretary. When her children were young, Mrs. Gagnon volunteered as a Troop Leader for both the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was also active in the P.T.A.’s at her children’s schools. Mrs. Gagnon and her husband were members for many years at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, N.H. and loved to work in the gardens at her home. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
In addition to her Husband Richard, she is survived by a son, Richard J. Gagnon Jr. of Santa Monica, CA.; two daughters and a son in law, Donna L. Gagnon and Cheryl A. White and her husband John D. White, both of Lowell; a brother, Gary Oczkowski of Raymond, N.H.; a sister, Alice Tucker of Billerica; a brother in law, Rt. U.S. Air Force Col. Lawrence Gagnon; a sister in law, Marie Cushman both of Colorado Springs, CO.and her loving pets Rex and Rocky.
GAGNON- Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 9 until 10:30 at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST. (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH.
