Obituary

Willis L. “Bud” Clay, 89, of Thornton Street, Derry, NH died Thursday May 29, 2003 at the Birchwood Nursing Home, Derry following a brief illness. Bud, as he was known, was born in Derry, NH on October 16,1913 and had been a lifelong resident. He was a son of the late Elwin A. and Charlotte (Richards) Clay. Bud attended Pinkerton Academy in Derry where he was later employed for more than 20 years as a custodian, retiring in 1984. He had also worked for Worthmore Feeds in Londonderry and Concord. He was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 137 in Derry. He had served as past Deacon at Central Congregational Church in Derry and was currently a member of the First Parish Church, E. Derry. He was a member of the Chase Athletic Association in Derry. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth A. (Holbrook) Clay in 1996.

He is survived by four sons, Philip H. Clay and his wife Karen of Keene, NH, Frank A. Clay Sr. and his wife Sally of Nashua, E. Bruce Clay, Paul H. Clay and his wife Lucille all of Derry, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday June 2nd at 2:00pm at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Hampstead Road, East Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03077. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
