Mary A. (Rodrigues) Monteiro, 83, of Attleboro formerly of Foxboro died on Monday February 16, 2009 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis S. Monteiro who passed away on May 17, 1984.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 6, 1025 she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Mederios) Rodrigues.
As a little girl she lived in Pawtucket until her family moved to East Boston where she also received her education. Mary was dedicated homemaker to her loving family. They were the fibers of her life.
She will be remembered as a creative person and her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and sewing. Her family will always remember her marvelous baking skills and the pleasure she received from collecting angels of which her collection was quite extensive. A resident of Attleboro for several years she had formerly made her home in Foxboro for many years and had also resided in Mansfield.
The loving mother of the late David Monteiro and Manuel Monteiro, she was the dear sister of Emma Douglas of Tucson, Arizona, Frankie Rodrigues of Phoenix, Arizona, Dorothy Ericson of Chestnut Hill, Rosemarie Richards of Somerville and the late John Rodrigues and Manuel Rodrigues. Also surviving are many devoted grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday February 21st at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Visiting hours are omitted. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
