Ralph H. DeMarco, of Arlington formerly of Boston’s North End, died suddenly Friday in the Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 81.
Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Emidio and the late Maria (Mamucci) DeMarco. Ralph worked as a Custodial Supervisor at MIT in the Physical Plant Department for many years. He was an active volunteer with many North End Youth organizations, especially the North End Athletic Association, where he was the two time recipient of the “Man of the Year” award. He was a mentor to many.
He was the beloved husband for 56 years to Eleanor (Chiarlo) DeMarco. Devoted father of Lorraine Spagnuolo, Rosemarie Nogueira and her husband Joseph, Diane DeMarco all of Arlington, Ralph DeMarco and his wife Susan of Wilmington. He was a cherished 2nd father of Nicholas Ventullo of Woburn. Loving Papa of Rochelle Luongo and her husband Dominick, Renee Koulouris and her husband Lakis, Michael, Sophia and Mia DeMarco. Loving Great Grandfather of Joseph Koulouris. Dear brother of Antonetta LaFrazia, Rose Ford, Nancy LaFerrara, Maria Corraele, Frances DeLuca, Frank DeMarco all of the North End of Boston and the late Louis, Antonio and John DeMarco. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Sq., Boston at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
