LaCroix Arthur J. of Needham and Sagamore Beach, MA, died peacefully at Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital on Feb. 12th 2009.
Arthur was born on Sept. 27, 1921 in Worcester, MA. He spent his childhood years in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1943. After graduation he worked for the military, balancing planes during World War II. He became a registered Professional Engineer for the state of Massachusetts and joined New England Electric System (Now National Grid) as a Project Engineer, specializing in the design and construction of power plants. He was a lifelong member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers.
During his lifetime Arthur was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hiking, skiing, boating, bicycling and spending time with his family. Music played a large role in his life and included early days in the Cornell Chorale and piano playing. He was an active member of the Sagamore Beach Colony Club and a Club President. He spent many happy hours in his workshop.
Beloved husband of Marjorie (Forrest) LaCroix. Father of Jeannine Mara and her husband John of Avon, CT. Suzanne Vreeland and her husband John of Hingham, James LaCroix of Brookline, and the late Steven LaCroix and his surviving wife Kim of Walnut Creek CA. Grandfather of Kaitlin, Megan, Eric, Matthew, Krista, and Stephanie.
