Doris J. Comeau, 96

Doris J. (Jones) Comeau, 96, of Mansfield formerly of West Yarmouth and Wollaston, passed away peacefully on Friday February 13, 2009 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Comeau.
Born in Braintree, MA on October 29, 1912 she was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Sanford) Jones.
Doris grew up and was educated in Braintree and was a 1930 graduate of Braintree High School. She had worked at Sigma Instrument in Braintree for 15 years where her job responsibilities were as an Electronic Tester and Assembler. She retired in 1977.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 9 years she had previously lived in West Yarmouth for 33 years and formerly in the Wollaston section of Quincy for 19 years. While living in West Yarmouth Doris enjoyed attending the South Yarmouth Senior Center and since moving to Mansfield she looked forward to going to the Mansfield Council on Aging Center where she met new friends.
Mrs. Comeau was an extremely artistic person who enjoyed arts and crafts and painting. Her other hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing and making clothes. She was also a former member of the Braintree Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Virginia R. Mitchell-D’Onofrio and her husband Richard D’Onofrio of Mansfield, her dear daughter in law Frances J. Temple of Sarasota, Florida, Her cherished grandchildren Cheryl Whitney, Debora Ackley, Linda Farinella, Douglas Temple, Daniel Mitchell and Donna Leonardo, also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandsons. Doris was the loving mother of the late David B. Temple and the mother in law of the late Robert C. Mitchell.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday February 17th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday February 16th from 2-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Doris’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Friends of the Mansfield Council on Aging 255 Hope St. Mansfield, MA 02048.
