Cosby, Lillian Helen (Kelly) of Roslindale, formerly of Brighton & Mission Hill, Ma. died on February 11, 2009 just after her 90th birthday. She was married to the late Wesley C. Cosby. They lived in the Irish Neighborhood of Mission Hill and attended Mission Church High School. They raised their children in Mission Hill before moving to Brighton and later Roslindale. Lillian was an avid bowler and bingo player but her first love was sports especially the Celtics and the Red Sox. She was an avid sports fan since her school days as a sports writer for the Mission High Spur. She leaves behind her seven children: MaryLou O'Leary (wife of the late Charles O'Leary) of Somerville, Eleanor of Roslindale, Kathleen Tempesta and her husband Thomas of Walpole, Kevin and his wife Rosemarie of West Roxbury, John and his wife Christine of Walpole, Gerard and his wife Leah of Waltham, and James and his wife Rita of Walpole. Lillian was a well loved grandmother that enjoyed nothing more than attending her grandchildren's events. Along with her 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren Lillian was matriarch of a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Lil outlived her two sisters and four brothers. A stone has been placed at the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston in Lillian's memory. Funeral from the William J. Gormley, 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Thursday Feb. 19th. at 9am. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Mission Church at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-9pm.
