Virginia D. (Green) Scaggs, 92 years, a resident of Brockton for the past 25 years, died February 8, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of 61 years of the late Virgil Scaggs. Born and raised in Bronson, MI, she was the daughter of the late Hubert M. and Mary J. (Prestidge) Green. During the 1950’s and ‘60’s Virginia lived in Girard, MI where she and her husband owned a farm and were the proprietors of the V&V General Stores. She was very family oriented, loved sewing, cooking and gardening. She and her late husband had a garden in Easton, and following his death she continued to tend the garden and would invite family and friends for picnics.
She was the mother of Bonnie Carpenella of Brockton and Penni Reed and her husband David of Wareham; grandmother of Greg Mowrey of Fall River and Kevin Mowrey of New York; great grandmother of Jamison, Carrie and Jaelynn Mowrey and Kyle Reed; great grandmother of Tyler and Colbey Pouliot; and sister to her late three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 12-1pm with a prayer service at 1pm.
