Barbara Kennedy (Goodrich) Creasman, 88 of East Walpole died February 11 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Ware Foster and the wife of the late Malcolm D. Creasman who died in 1990.
Born in Brockton, December 10, 1920, the daughter of the late Sheldon B. Goodrich, former sub master of Walpole High School and his wife, Nellie (Kennedy) Goodrich, Barbara grew up in East Walpole and was a graduate of Walpole High School and also a graduate of Mount Holyoke College from where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Degree in 1943. Mrs. Creasman led an active and full life.
In 1943, she married Mr. Creasman and as his work as manager of Wesson Oil took them to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois. While living in LaGrange Illinois, Mrs. Creasman served on the public school board for 5 years.
In 1971, they moved to Florida where they purchased and ran the Buccaneer Hotel in Treasure Island.
For many years, Mrs.Creasman was an active member of the PEO.
One of her greatest joys was vacationing on her grandfather’s island in Kezar Lake, Maine.
Her love of poetry continued throughout her life and many of her poems were published.
Her first marriage ended when Mr. Creasman passed away in 1990. In 2001, Mrs. Creasman moved back to East Walpole.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children from her first marriage, Deborah D. Parker of St. Petersburg, Florida and Stephen R. Creasman and his wife, Elaine of Largo, Florida.
She is also survived by her step-daughter, Melody Bentley and her husband, Randall of Fairfax, Virginia, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
She was the sister of the late Edward S. Goodrich.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16 in the Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhoades Ave, East Walpole at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole.
