Jean M. (Demchuk) Bell, 91, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 11, 2009 at the Tremont Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Wareham. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold W. Bell, Sr.
Born in Boston, MA on October 18, 1917 she was a daughter of the late John and Eufimia (Lasivoi) Demchuk.
She grew up in Boston and was educated at St. Joseph’s School and Girls High School in Boston.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Jean had also worked for 10 years as a cafeteria cashier at the Robinson Elementary School in Mansfield, retiring in 1983.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and was a resident of Mansfield for over 55 years. Jean’s family and friends were the key ingredients of her life and she will always be remembered for her great sense of humor
She is survived by her devoted children R. Sandra Pierce and her husband Jack of Waldoboro, Maine, Deborah A. Dunn and her husband Tom of Harrison, Maine, Harold W. Bell, Jr. and his wife Jeannie of Marion and Richard A. Bell and his wife Regina of Providence, R.I, also surviving are her loving 4 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late James Tracey.
Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday February 14th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning prior to the funeral mass beginning at 8:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Jean’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Activity Fund at Tremont Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center 605 Main St. Wareham, MA 02571.
