Earl G. Rittenhouse, 83, of Summerville, husband of Arlene K. Sweat Rittenhouse died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Trident Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held Friday, February 13, 2009 at 1 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or US Marines Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Drive, Triangle, Virginia 22172.
Mr. Rittenhouse was born August 1, 1925 in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Karl David Rittenhouse and Bessie Thomas Rittenhouse. He was a graduate of Waverly High School in Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelors degree in Engineering from M.I.T in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was a retired engineer with Bird Machine in South Walpole, Massachusetts.
Surviving in addition to his wife are:
2 daughters and 2 sons: Mimi Rittenhouse of Kentucky, N. Kate Guerard of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Jamie Rittenhouse of Indiana and Kevin Rittenhouse of Stoughton, Massachusetts.
6 grandchildren: Jesse and Christopher Dyer both of Indiana, Christine, Michael and Megan Guerard and Kevin Rittenhouse all of Stoughton, Massachusetts,
1 brother: David Rittenhouse of New Jersey
He was predeceased by his son: Rev. David Rittenhouse
