Irene C. (White) Sontag of Newton Centre, died on Feb 8, 2009 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital.
Born in Everett she graduated from Somerville High School. She had lived in Newton for over 50 years and was Past President and a valued member of Aid for Cancer Research for more than 30 years.
She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Leo Sontag and loving mother of Karen Sontag of Somerville. She is survived by her brothers Paul White and his wife Ann of Stoneham and Norman White and his wife Anne of Framingham, and was the beloved aunt to 11 nieces and nephews and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri Feb 13 at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church 1321 Centre St. Newton Centre. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Thurs from 4-7 PM.
