Alvin Levi Porter, 55, Clarksville, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev.Carl Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 3, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio. He was retired Staff Sgt from the US Army and was a member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Eddings and a son, DeAndre Porter. Survivors include his wife, Jerri McDermitt Porter, four sons, Jerome Porter, Oklahoma; Terome Porter, Oklahoma; Alvin, Porter, Jr, Virginia; and Andre Rice (Jene), Japan; two step-sons, Michael Samluk, Clarksville; and Bryan Samluk (Yoko), Japan; seven grandchildren, TeAnna, Terome, Jr, Tanyua, Antonia, Jade, Emma, and Erika; brothers, Michael(Pamela), Lorenzo, and Carl Porter(Barbara); Arthur, Christopher, and Gregory Holmes; sisters Rachell Moultrie (James) and Charlene Montanez (Candido).
