Gary B. Butler, 63

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Gary B. Butler, 63, of Mansfield formerly of Everett passed away on Sunday February 8, 2009 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood. He was the beloved husband of Susan J. (Palin) Butler to whom he wed on April 24, 1971.
Born in Malden, MA on May 5, 1945 he was a dear son of Albina D. (DeAgazio) Butler of Everett and the late Arthur G. Butler.
Gary grew up and was educated in Everett. He served in the United States Air Force from May 13, 1963 to March 1, 1967 being honorably discharged with the rank of A1C, E4.
He worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for over 40 years and at the time of his death maintained the position of Metal Shop Supervisor.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 37 years Mr. Butler attended St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and was a member of the Paul Dean Masonic Lodge in North Easton. Gary was devoted to his loving family and enjoyed spending time at home and engaging in projects around the house. He also enjoyed working on automobiles and especially spending time with his young grandson.
In addition to his beloved wife and mother he is survived by his devoted daughters Michele J. DelSignore and her husband William of Norton and Skye M. Lawlor and her husband Gregory of Norton. He was the brother of Karen Burke of Berwick, Maine, the adoring grandfather of Jason W. DelSignore of Norton and is also survived by 1 niece and 3 nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday February 12th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday February 11th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Gary’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association 330 Congress St. 5th Floor Boston, MA 02110 or the National Kidney Foundation of MA, RI, NH and VT 85 Astor Avenue Norwood, MA 02062.
