Obituary

Edgar Richer Sr. 82, of Nursery Ave, died Saturday in the hospice unit of St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of Lucille (Durant) Richer. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on January 25th of this year. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Alpherie and Blandine (Remillard) Richer. Mr. Richer was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a sheet metal worker for the former B&G Sheet Metal Co. in Woonsocket before working for Electric Boat for many years until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Richer was also a member of the St. Joseph’s Veterans Association.
Besides his wife Lucille, he is survived by a son Edgar Richer Jr.of Woonsocket, three daughters; Yvonne Giguere of AZ, Dorothy McKeever of OK, and Dolores Richer of Woonsocket, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Armand and Walter Richer, and the late Alice Gagnon.
His funeral will be held Wednesday from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. at 9:30, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket.
Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: VNS of Greater RI, 6 Blackstone Valley Pl., Suite 515, Lincoln, RI, 02865.
