Josephine Catherine (Lacey) Crotty, died Saturday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
A long-time Somerville resident, Josephine lived the last 3 years in Medford.
Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Hogan) Lacey. After graduating high school Josephine went on to Leslee College. She taught in the Somerville public school system for 35 years. Her last assignment was at the Carr School when she retired in 1974.
A devout catholic, Josephine was active at St. Joseph Church in Union Square, while she lived in Somerville.Josephine loved her family and had a special devotion to her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Crotty. She was the adored mother of William and his wife Melanie of Mount Holly, NJ, Ronald and his wife Joanne of Medford, Robert and his wife Carol of Milford, Jo-Ann and her husband Cornelius St. Croix of Riverside, CA and Vincent of Washington. She was the cherished grandmother of Kelly, Billy, Joelle, Mary Beth, Sean, Jason, Janel, Danielle, Bobby, Connie, Amie, Scott, Kristen, Tim, Samantha-Jo, and great grandmother of 19. She was the dear sister in law of Mary Doody of Worcester. She is also survived by her pet pal Dakota.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday 5 thru 9.
Services will conclude with burial at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge.
