Obituary

WORCESTER___Edward G. “Pop” Daoust, 92, of Worcester, died Friday, February 6, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer St. His wife of 55 years, Nicolette E. (Carlo) Daoust died in 1995.

He leaves his children, Judith A. Archambault and her husband, Russell of Worcester; Edward G. Daoust, Jr., and his life partner, Lawrence Henrickson of Palm Beach Garden, Fl., and Kathleen A. Agbay of Worcester; two sisters, Anita Wojnarowicz of Sutton and Jean Chesna of Auburn; three grandchildren, Gary Archambault, Brian Archambault and his wife, Laurie and Lynn Archambault, four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Archambault, Nicolas Archambault, Jonathan Allen and Ryan Kenney, one great great-grandchild, Cameron Kenney and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four sisters, Loretta Champlin, Maria “Ora” Thibodeau, Evelyn Wahlstedt and Norma Yvette Ricard. He was born in Worcester, a son of Edward G. and Meleda (Preville) Daoust and lived here all his life.

Mr. Daoust was a machinist many years for Thomas Smith Co., and Lundquist Tool & Die Co. He retired many years ago. He worked on the WPA during the Great Depression. He also assisted his father in building some of Worcester’s first three decker homes. Edward attended Commerce High School and attended Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. He was a standout catcher on various teams in the Industrial Baseball league.

Mr. Daoust was a member of the Worcester Silver Sneakers Club at the Greendale Mall and attended the YMCA Gym for many years. He loved to oil paint, dance, deep sea fish and take long rides. He also loved classical music and du-wop and was the biggest fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Edward took great pride in his family and enjoyed vacationing with his son in Florida and was a great supporter of his grandchildren & great-grandchildren’s ball games. The family would like to thank every member of the CCU staff at St.Vincent Hospital for their care.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 10 with a service at 10:00 a.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, February 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. The Rev. William Champlin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St, Worcester, Ma., 01605
