Lawrence H. Genereux, 74, of New Bedford died February 7, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Eva P. (Kenny) Genereux.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henry and Doris (Booth) Genereux, he lived in New Bedford all his life.
He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center.
Mr. Genereux was formerly employed as a maintenance worker with the New Bedford School Department for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and later served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his former wife, Laurie Brickman of New Bedford; 7 sons, Lawrence Genereux Jr., Alan Genereux, Michael Genereux and Gary Genereux, all of New Bedford, Randy Genereux of Fall River, Victor Tavares and Joshua Genereux; 2 daughters, Catherine Genereux of Fall River, and Diane Genereux; 3 sisters, Jenny Gifford of Dartmouth, Pearl Hession of Fairhaven and Veronica Frias of New Bedford; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
His Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, February 11th at 11 AM in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, February 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
