Evelyn (Gutteridge) Coady, 98 of Milford and formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida and Mashpee died February 4 in the Geriatric Authority of Milford. She was the wife of the late David J. Coady who died in 1983.
Born in Roxbury, October 27, 1910, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Burns) Gutteridge, Mrs. Coady was raised in Boston and had lived in Somerville and Mashpee until retiring to Florida where she lived for many years before coming to Milford 10 years ago.
Mrs. Coady had been a teller at the former Boston Five Cents Savings Bank.
She had previously worked as a sales clerk at Wayne’s Department Store in Jamaica plain.
Mrs. Coady enjoyed crocheting and traveling. She had traveled the world and taken many trips and cruises along with her late husband to Europe, Australia, Fiji and the Great Wall of China to name a few of her destinations.
She is survived by her son, John Coady and his wife, Margaret of Medway.
She is also survived by her grandsons, John Coady Jr. and Michael Coady and her great-granddaughters, Alicia and Jessica.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 9 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m.followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church in Medway at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
