Obituary

Robert Lee Brock, 75, Clarksville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Clarksville. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home with Rev. E.G. Simms and Rev. Steve Louder officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 20, 1933 in Keithsburg, IL son of Robert Benjamin Brock and Mildred Evelyn Sedam Brock. CW2 Robert Brock was retired from the US Army Airborne and served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.He was a Master Parachute Jumper. He received many medals including the Bronze Star Medal W/4th Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal W/1st Oak Leaf, Meritorious Service Medal, Three Overseas Service Bars, Air Medal, Vietnamese Jump Wings (Honorary), Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal W/6 Service Stars, and the National Defense Service Medal W/Oak Leaf Cluster. He also retired from civil service. He was a member of Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the 11th Airborne Association and the Conservation Club. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Delmar Brock, and a sister, Mildred Tapscott. Survivors include his mother, Mildred Brock, Brooksville, FL; his loving wife of 55 years, Dee Brock; three sons, Sam Brock (Susan) Clarksville; Brian Brock (Debbie), Woodlawn; and Brett Brock (Becky) Cedar Hill, TN; a daughter, Bobbi Tanner (Dennis), Clarksville; six brothers, Gary, Harold, Donald, Charles, Tom, and Mark Brock all of Illinois; three sisters, Shirley Newhart, Palm Beach, FL; Debra Merritt, Brooksville, FL; and Donna Shoemaker, Iowa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Logan Rye, Craig Tanner, Eric Tanner, Jason Brock, Tyler Brock, Seth Brock, Garrett Brock, Dennis Tanner, Neal Alsobrooks, Billy Griffin, and Dudley Marklin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Class of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family respectfully request no flowers but would appreciate donations to Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, or to St Jude Children Hospital.
