Obituary

DRACUT - George A. Byrne, 65, a resident of Dracut, and former resident of Tewksbury, died Wednesday February 4th at his home. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Donahue) Byrne, to whom he was married for 43 years.

He was born in Malden on June 1, 1943, and he was a son of the late John J. and Thelma V. (Mortell) Byrne.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Byrne was employed for many years as a deli manager at Hannaford Supermarket in Dracut.

When his children were younger he was very active in coaching for the various sports they played in Tewksbury. More recently, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Steven Pesce of Winchendon, Kelly and Brian Raymond of Dracut, and Karen and Kevin Simard of Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Robby and Kevin Pesce, Joey Raymond, and Ryan and Meghan Simard; his mother-in-law Dorothy Donahue of Medford; and many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

He was also the son-in-law of the late Elmer Donahue.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 12 until 3 PM, followed by a gathering at one of his daughter's homes.
