Cartier, John V. age 90 of Oradell formerly of Bergenfield died Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee) Carlsen. Devoted father of Connie Steffen and her husband Dan, John Cartier and his wife Susan, Karen Cartier, and Christopher Cartier and his wife Dorothy Flora. Loving grandfather of David, Jacqueline, and Christian. Dear brother of the late Edward. John began his military service at the age of 17 in the U.S. Naval Reserves. At the onset of WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served in North Africa. Following the war he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1978. John worked as an executive for Aviquipo, Inc., an aviation equipment exporting firm where he traveled internationally. After retiring he purchased and operated TIA Electric, an aviation equipment manufacturing firm and Fairfield Technologies, Inc. an aviation equipment exporter. John was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Teaneck as well as the South Presbyterian Church in Bergenfield. He was an avid opera lover having attended many performances at the Metropolitan Opera. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. Funeral service Saturday 10AM at the South Presbyterian Church, 150 W. Church St., Bergenfield. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
