Shankman, David S. of Manchester and formerly New York passed away on February 3rd, 2009 at the Beverly Hospital, he was 76 years old. Born in Bronx, New York he was a graduate of City College in Manhattan. He worked at RH Macy’s as a buyer in New York prior to retirement. David was an avid lover of sports, music, politics, but most of all his family. He was a member of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) committee in Manchester for many years. David moved to Cape Ann 20 years ago to fulfill his dream of living there.
David was the beloved husband of the Elinor Shankman. He was the devoted father of Edward Shankman and his wife Miriam, Nancy Maniskas and her husband Kevin, and Carol Mendoza and her husband Ernesto. He was the loving grandfather of Nicholas, Gordon, Julian, and Ezra. A Temple service is going to be held at the temporary location of Temple Ahavat Achim, 33 Commercial St., Gloucester on Thursday Feb 5th at 1PM. Memorial observance is at his late residence Thursday February 5th following interment. Donations in his memory may be made to a Charity of Your Choice.
