David “Dave” Gilletti, age 54, passed away unexpectedly in a ski accident on February 3, 2009.
He is sadly missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 32 years Jennifer Gilletti; his daughters, Heather Frost & husband Chad of Mystic, and Holly Echevarria & husband Chris of Charleston, SC; two grandsons, Luke and Boden Frost, who have a special place in his heart; his two brothers, James Gilletti & wife Mary of Middletown, RI, and Paul Gilletti & wife Jodi; a sister Sandra Hay all of Chandler, AZ; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Riddell of Inverness, FL and Brian Chelon of Thornton, CO.
He was predeceased by his sister, Dorei Riddell; brother –in-law Dub Hay; his parents, Pete and Violet Gillett, and his in-laws, Robert and Barbara Chelon.
David and his family are originally from Colorado but have lived in Connecticut for 30 years where they’ve built many treasured friendships.
Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandsons. He enjoyed riding his Harley, skiing, and great times with friends. He will be affectionately remembered as a true “character’ who had the ability to keep those around him laughing.
After graduating from college, he began his career as an electrical engineer with Sperry Univac which later became Lockheed Martin. During his career, he supported defense contracts and spent many years as a subcontractor at Electric Boat.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry.
Dave’s family will greet relatives and friends at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1830 Rte. 12, Gales Ferry (www.stluke.info) on Monday from 5-7pm. A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of David's life will be conducted at the church on Tuesday at 10am. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
