Ruth Lamphere Latham, 93, died February 2 from complications of pneumonia.
Ruth was born on May 9, 1915, the daughter of the late Zerah and Corrine Page Lamphere.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, John Edward Latham, her son John Thomas Latham and his wife Anne: granddaughters Jennifer Manfredi, Sara Roberts and grandson Daniel Latham plus four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Barry Latham and her sisters Edna Lamphere Chism and Florence Lamphere Davis.
Mrs. Latham was a lifetime resident of Mystic, Stonington and attended Mystic Academy and Fitch High School. Prior to her marriage she and her sisters ran a riding stable on Cow Hill Road. Later in her marriage she worked briefly at Packers Tar Soap, Montauk Market and Eaton and Wilson Hardware. In later years Ruth and John lobstered during the summer and wintered on Pine Island In Bokeelia, FL.
Ruth's family will greet relatives and friends at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Monday, February 9 from 11am to 12:45pm, immediately followed by a Graveside Service at 1pm at Elm Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Doretta Colburn will officate.
