FALL RIVER … Eliza (Tavares) Botelho, 88, of North Main Street, Fall River formerly of William Street, Westport, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 after a long illness.
She was the widow of Eugene C. Botelho.
She died at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center, Fall River.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Jacinto and Mary (Ries) Tavares and had live in the Fall River Westport area all of her life.
She was a hemmer for various mills in the city.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.
Mrs. Botelho was a member of I.L.G.W.U., UNITE, and Westport Council on Aging. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, dancing, music, Fox Woods Resort and Casino, fishing, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She also enjoyed going out with the girls.
Survivors include a son David Botelho and his wife Laura of Westport, a daughter Nancy Jordan and her husband Richard of Fall River, a brother George Tavares of Fall River, a sister Emma Santos Nunes of Somerset, 3 grandchildren: Sean D. Botelho of Berkley, Lea B. Montalvo of Houston, TX, Stacie Combs of Fall River, 4 great grandchildren: Eliana Montalvo, Tristen Montalvo, Daniel Combs, Hannah Combs, several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William “Bill” Botelho and adoptive grandmother of the late George Eaton Botelho.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Road, Westport. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
