Daniel Vincent Moriarity, 72, passed away Feb. 2, 2009 at Winchester Hospital after a long battle with lung disease.
Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Kavanaugh) Moriarity. Mr. Moriarity was an Advocate for over 25 years with the MA Office for Children and Department of Mental Retardation. Passionate about child care and human service, in his work with the Office for Children he was instrumental in the creation of the Tri-City Task Force, a revolutionary concept that solidified the relationship between the Police Departments, hospitals and schools in handling child abuse cases.
In addition to his professional life he was the devoted and loving husband of Gladys (Flores) Moriarity and the beloved father of Joseph and his wife Jaime of Stoneham, and Erin Moriarity and her husband Adam Vetter of Newport, RI. Daniel was the dear brother of John Moriarity of Laconia, NH, and is further survived by his grandson, Daniel M. Moriarity. His Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Friday, Feb. 6 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
