
Robert F. Partridge,86, of Capitol View Avenue, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Miriam Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Courtney) Partridge.
Born in East Providence, the second son of the late Pierce and Anita (Sivigny) Partridge, he had been a resident of North Providence since 1963.
He was a WWII Army Veteran having bravely served on tank destroyers and had later served with the Army Corps of Engineers. He had received a commendation for building a bridge across the River Rhine under German fire in 4 hours and 52 minutes. He had taught K-12 in Barrington, Providence and Warwick School Systems and had been a Reading Specialist in the Johnston Schools before retiring. He received his Bachelors Degree in Education and his Masters Degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College and his Masters Degree in Education from Providence College.
He was the loving father of Mary Urspung and her husband Rick of CT, Robin A. Badeau and her husband Armand, of Woonsocket, and Patrick J. Partridge and his wife Bonnie of Apple Valley, CA, his grandchildren, Robin Pearce and her husband Jonathan with whom he resided, Mary Hackett, Francine Butler, Mark Upsprung, Pamela Shaw, Keith Badeau, Blake and Cody Partridge; his great grandchildren, Jessica, Courtney, Michael, Matthew, Andrew, Grace, Olivia, Natasha, Emma-Rose, John, Amanda and Erik, his sister in law, Sr. Mary Therese, OP of Blauvelt, NY. He was the grandfather of the late Joseph Morin, Patricia A. Racine and Patrick R. Partridge.
Funeral Thursday at 9 am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Mary Mother of Mankind Church, Fourth Avenue, North Providence . Burial in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 4-7.
