James I. Cassidy, 96, of Franklin, died, Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Frances R. (Shaw) Cassidy who died in 1989.
Born in Boston on January 16, 1913, he was a son of the late Henry and Irene (Irwin) Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was a resident of Westwood for 48 years, until moving to Franklin 6 years ago. He proudly served in the Coast Guard Reserve.
Before his retirement, he was a builder and owner of Murray Construction Co. for many years.
Mr. Cassidy enjoyed spending his summers in Pocasset.
He is survived by four daughters, Susan Mason and her husband, Alan of Woodstock, CT, Judith (Palladino) Cassidy and her fiancé, Emilio DiBenedetto of Danvers, Carol Uphold and her husband, Barry of Townsend and Linda Zardeskas and her husband, John of Bellingham.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, February 3 at 10 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Westwood.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
