Obituary

IPSWICH: Leo O. Sadin, 90, formerly of Gardner, died early Friday morning, January 30, 2009 following a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of Esther (Olson) Sadin.
Born in Gardner on July 9, 1918, he was the son of the late Oscar and Amanda (Alkala) Sadin. He had been a resident of Ipswich for the past two years.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a proud member of the 10th Mountain Division 87th Regiment and was a recipient of the Bronze Star with V for Valor and a Purple Heart.
Mr. Sadin was employed for thirty years with National Grid, having managed a substation and later worked in accounting.
He was a passionate skier and was a member of the late Governor Peabody’s recreational department promoting skiing at Gardner High School and Wachusett Mountain.
In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and Jack A. Ventola, a granddaughter and her husband, Gia Ventola and David Ghoreishi.
His funeral service will be held on Monday morning at 11 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 478 Boston Street, Topsfield. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
