Obituary

WORCESTER____Doris Y. (Dubois) Gardner, 90, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Marie Esther Health Center, Marlborough. Her husband, J. Roy Gardner died in 1965.

She leaves three children, Sr. Paulette E. Gardner, Sister of St. Anne, of Worcester; Catherine A. Turner and her husband James of Tennessee and Roland P. Gardner and his wife Kathleen of Hubbardston; five grandchildren, Kelly A. Franks and J.T. Turner both of Tennessee; Deborah L. Bridgeman of Georgia and Colin Gardner and Connor Gardner both of Hubbardston; six great-grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Anna, Noah, Ava and Alexander. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of J. Emile and Anna C. (Demers) Dubois and had lived here all her life.

Mrs. Gardner was a graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School and David Hale Fanning High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, now known as Holy Family Parish. Doris was also a member of the St. Joseph Church Mother’s Club and the Anna Maria College Women’s Guild.

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 2, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, February 1 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Anne, 720 Boston Post Rd, Marlborough, Ma, 01752.
