Paul R. Dean, 70, of New Bedford died January 28, 2009 at Hallmark Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was the former husband of Jovina C. "Winna" (Santos) Dean of Onset.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Raymond H. and Gladys M. (McDonald) Dean, he lived in Onset for 25 years before returning to New Bedford 16 years ago.
Mr. Dean was formerly employed as a carpenter working with his late father.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 - 1963 and was the recipient of the Marksmanship Medal and Advanced Marksmanship Medal.
Survivors include his former wife; two sons, Mark Paul Dean of Onset and Scot Raymond Dean and his wife Allison of Middleboro; a daughter, Tarra Lee Dean of Onset; a sister, Carole A. Means and her husband James of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Mya; three nieces and two nephews.
His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 1st from 1-3 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
