Paul Eugene “Gene” Prentiss, 65, of Yonges Island, died peacefully at home Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Born in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Edward Burden Prentiss and Jennie May Tumbleston Prentiss.
Paul was a member of Christ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was a United States Army veteran, having served as a member of the Eighty Second Airborne Division. Paul was self- employed & known for his willingness to help others in the community.
He is survived by:
3 daughters, Caroline Prentiss of Charleston,
Beth Prentiss Scoggin and her husband David of Savannah, Georgia and Lisa Prentiss of Savannah, Georgia,
1 sister, Caroline Prentiss Jarvis and her husband Jim of Greenville, SC, 6 grandchildren, Tyler Ziel, Clayton Piotrowski, Dathan, Dustyn and Tabitha Scoggin and Kyndall Prentiss.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Burton Prentiss.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 1 o’clock at Christ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Hollywood, SC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
