Kilby (Kib) E. Roberts, 87, of Methuen, MA, husband of the late Rita (Canty) Roberts, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Holy Family Hospital.
He was born in the home located on the Alfalfa Farm, Topsfield, MA the son of the late Bertram and Annetta Roberts. He graduated from Essex High School. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps. Kib spent most of his career working at Murray Printing Co. in Westford, MA, and then worked for the City of Methuen before an injury left him disabled.
When growing up Kib lived in many Massachusetts communities that he always enjoyed revisiting and talking about; Essex, Gloucester, Danvers and many more. He especially loved cooking for large gatherings with family and friends at the family home. Kib also enjoyed gardening, carpentry, golf, watching the birds and his faithful companions Benji and Duke. Kib enjoyed teaching others how to do small handyman projects and there were always plenty of projects to do. He and Rita enjoyed ballroom dancing; they would go dancing as often as possible. Kib was proud to have served in the Marine Corps for four years and forever remained a Marine.
He is survived by his daughters, Candy Lunt, Patty Perry, and Nancy Salvetti, all of Methuen, Susan and her husband Stephen Smith of North Andover; a brother, Maurice Roberts of Gloucester; seven grandchildren, Jeff Lunt, David Lunt and Debbie (Lunt) Salvo, Julie Perry, Joel Perry, Ashley Salvetti and Tyler Smith; eight great-grandchildren;, James and Thomas Lunt , Owen and Morgan Lunt, Eric, Kyle and Kate Salvo, and Jayna Perry ; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Charles K. Roberts. He was pre-deceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will take place on Saturday morning January 31, 2009 at 11 o’clock from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends who wish may pay their respects on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
