John M. McArdle, 69, of Windham, NH, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in his home. Mr. McArdle was born in Lowell, MA on December 30, 1939, a son of the late J. Myron and Margaret (Gallagher) McArdle. He was a resident of Windham for the past four years, formerly living in Pelham, NH and Lowell, MA. Mr. McArdle was employed as a firefighter for the Lowell Mass Fire Dept. for 39 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his loving family, and spent many happy times with his dear friends from Windham Meadows.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie McArdle of Windham; two daughters, MaryJane Caron and her husband Paul of Tyngsboro, MA, and Karen McArdle of Andover, MA; three step sons, Robert Polcari and his wife Melanie of Derry, NH, David Polcari of Ft. Collins, CO, and Richard Polcari and his wife Lori of Pelham; four step daughters, Kara Coffin of Dracut, MA, Darlene Nee and her husband Coleman of Lynnfield, MA, Dr. Susan Keezer of Beverly, MA, and Maura Keezer of Brockton, MA; sixteen grandchildren; and one brother, Robert McArdle and his wife Sheila of Dracut. He was predeceased by his late wife Judith (Barber) McArdle.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Friday, January 30th from 4 - 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Matthews Church, Searles Rd., Windham. The burial will be in the Cemetery on the Plain in Windham in the Spring.
