Marie E. (Alger) Contino, 76, of Stonington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Pendleton in Mystic.
Mrs. Contino was born in Indiana on May 10, 1932 the daughter of Joseph and Abigail Alger. She attended local schools and later received her Real Estate License.
A resident of Stonington since 1956, she was the backbone and bookkeeper of the family business, M.G. Contino & Sons Builders and Developers. Marie’s life passion was her family, nothing pleased her more than spending time with her husband, her sons and their families and joining their life activities. She also enjoyed travelling to Florida to visit her siblings and was a avid women’s basketball fan (UCONN Huskies) and a devoted Patriots fan. In her spare time, she enjoyed the beach, her pool, visiting yard sales, and loving her Pomeranians, Petey and Missy. She was a member of the Groton Women’s Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michele G. Contino; her sons, Ronald Contino and wife Kim of N. Stonington, Michael Contino and wife Joyce White of Uncasville, Rick Contino and wife Deborah of Stonington, and David Contino and his wife Beth of Ledyard; a brother, Richard Alger and wife Noi of Fla; a sister, Sandra Michael and husband John of Fla., 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Wilcox.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Saturday at 9:30am. Visitation is private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., Bethesda, MD 20814 (WW.cff.org).
