SALISBURY - Josephine K. (Pasterczyk) Garbowski, 80, a resident of Salisbury, and former longtime Dracut resident, died Tuesday January 27th at the home of her daughter in Mendon, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Tadeus E. Garbowski.
She was born in Lowell on March 16, 1928, and was a daughter of the late John J. and Aniela (Jakubczyk) Pasterczyk. She received her education in Maine schools, and was a graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco, ME.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Garbowski was employed as a secretary by Family Services in Lowell.
Josephine loved being near the ocean and walking along the beach. She also enjoyed knitting and reading.
She is survived by a son Thaddeus "Ted" Garbowski and his wife Sherri of Gilbert, SC; a daughter, Karen Mills and her husband Robert of Mendon; four grandchildren Joshua Mills, Matthew Mills, Sara Garbowski, and Seth Garbowski; three sisters, Sr. M. Olivia Pasterczyk RSM of Portland, ME, Sr. Theresa Pasterczyk SMSM of Peru, South America, and Antoinette Blatus of Salisbury; a brother-in-law, Mike Blatus of Dracut, and many Godchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Boleslaw "William" Pasterczyk, and the late Stella Pasterczyk.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church in Lowell. Spring burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lowell.
