Travis Elmore Damron, 72, Clarksville, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Robert Spurgeon, Rev. Steve Freeman. and Rev. Dwayne Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Slayden Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 9, 1936 in Martin, TN son of the late Travis Elmore Damron, Sr. and Henrietta Yates Damron.
Mr. Damron was a member of Slayden Baptist Church. He retired as an E-8 with the US Army after serving 21 years and three tours in VietNam. He then retired from Civil Service after 18 years where he worked at Blanchfield Hospital, Logistics.
Surviors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce McClain Damron, daughters, Betsy Sharp (Mike), Clarksville; Cindy Adkins, Vanleer, TN; son-in-law, Ronnie L. Adkins, Vanleer; niece, Debbie Damron Simmons, Martin, TN; and a grandson, Matthew Mitchell Sharp, Clarksville, TN. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy (Bird) Damron and grandson, Christopher Layton Adkins.
Military will serve as pallbearers.
