Obituary


Elizabeth (Baker) Hough, 88 of Little Compton died on January 26, 2009. She was born in North Attleboro, MA in 1920. She was the daughter of the late Frank Lee Baker and Edna (Ingram) Baker. She moved to Providence with her widowed mother and step-father, Arthur Armington and two brothers the late Frank Lee Baker and Augustus H. Baker. She had wonderful recollections of her childhood in Little Compton. She loved Little Compton and her garden. She was a gentle spirit and loved by all.

She married Mark Sayles Hough, also a summer resident of Little Compton and Woonsocket, RI. They were married for 46 years until his death in 1988.

She is survived by two children, Jen Hough Francis and her husband Jerry of the Woodlands, TX and Ward W.S. Hough and his wife Kathy of North Smithfield, RI and Little Compton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jennifer Brennan Rucker and her husband Chris of Portsmouth, RI, David Sayles Francis and his wife Marra of the Woodlands, TX, Catherine E. Francis and her husband Ryan Hart of Chicago, Elizabeth Brennan of Los Angeles, Erin Hough of Johnston, RI, Bryan Hough of North Smithfield, RI and Michael Hough of Portland, OR and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Elinor Hough and her family.

She was a member of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, the Sakonnet Golf Club and the Little Compton Historical Society.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life will be held at St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Little Compton on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 3:00 P.M.
