MIDDLEBORO — Charles E. Reese, age 92 years, of Oak Point in Middleborough, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Golden Living Center-Oak Hill after an extended illness. He was the husband of Anne (Hillier) Reese, to whom he was married for 65 years.
Born in Texas, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Lila (Bullock) Reese and had lived in New Bedford much of his life.
Charles was a U. S. Army veteran, having served his country during World War II in the 36th Infantry Division and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
For 32 years, he was a commercial fisherman out of the New Bedford Port. A longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford, he was a member of the American Legion and a 32nd degree Mason affiliated with the Paskamansett Lodge A.F. and A.M., the Allepo Temple, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, Valley of Southeastern Mass., Old Colony Consistory.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda A. Farias of Indiana; his son, James B. Reese of Middleborough; and grandchildren, Sherry A. Burke and Lori J. Hackenson of Mass., and Tracey L. White and Amy E. Trujillo of Georgia; and great-grandfather of eight.
His private arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
