Obituary

Dorothy Theresa “Dottie” Doiron, 64, passed away at her home surrounded by her children, mother and sister following a 15 year battle with cancer on January 25, 2009. Dottie was born in Boston on January 29, 1944 to Dorothea (Eagles) Read and the late Charles P. Read. She graduated from St. Gregory’s High School. She married Robert F. Doiron on Sept. 16, 1967. For over 30 years, Dottie worked at the Telephone Workers Cooperative Bank, which later was known as Telecom Bank and then Bank Malden.

Her retirement provided her with the time and opportunity to enjoy her precious grandchildren of whom she was so proud. She was a member of St. Brendan's Parish, a stone’s throw from her home. She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed many summer weekends at the Irish Village in Cape Cod with her husband Bob, looked forward to family gatherings and most especially, the delight of watching her grandchildren at play. Always more concerned for the welfare of those around her, she seldom thought of herself, making light of her own cares. She will be remembered for her inner strength, courage, wonderful sense of humor, kind heart and generous spirit. Above all, her love will live on in all who knew her, most especially her family.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Robert, her daughter Marianne (Doiron) Sullivan, and her husband Justin, her son, James Doiron, B.P.D. Area C-11, and his wife Colleen, her mother, Dorothea Read and her sister, Sr. Marianne Read, R.S.M., her aunt, Sr. Theresa Marie Read, R.S.M., her uncle Michael Read and the lights of her life, her beloved grandchildren, Sean and Brian Doiron; Matthew, Caroline, Ian and Emma Sullivan, her cousin Peter Eagles and numerous friends.

Visiting hours will be held in the John J. O’Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St.(near Gallivan Blvd) DORCHESTER on Wednesday from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Thursday morning, January 29th, at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
