Trudy Mae Tillery Braswell, 82, of Sumner died Saturday, January 24, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson. Bill Frye, Hospice minister in Worth County, will officiate with burial to follow in Salem Memorial Gardens. Shorty Morgan, Joe Manders, Stacy Morgan, Ricky Manders, Josh Mathis and B. J. Grimes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Manders and other grandsons. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 26, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Braswell was born on March 24, 1926 in Moultrie and was the daughter of Homer Calvin Tillery and Sophrinie Elizabeth Tillery, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Watson Manders, Andrew Peters and A. P. Braswell; one son, Billy Manders; and two sisters, Evelyn McClellan and Doris Webb. She was a retired cook at Ed's Truck Stop and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by two sons, Joseph Peters of Doerun and Homer Peters of Sumner; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Beulah Morgan of Sumner, Betty Morgan of Jasper, Florida, Geraldine and Austin Anderson of Chula, Nancy and Joe Mathis of Tifton, Ann Grimes of Ty Ty and Lillie and Doy Bryant of Portal; an honorary daughter, Peggy Burk of Ocilla; one brother, J. D. Tillery of Dougherty County; 28 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
