Rita B. Plouffe 90, formerly of Main St, Slatersville, died Friday in Pine Grove Nursing Home, Pascoag. She was born in North Smithfield, a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Chartier) Bouchard. She was the wife of the late Adolphe Plouffe.
Mrs. Plouffe was a mender for the former Rochambeau Worsted Co. and The Woonsocket Dress Co for many years, working well into her seventies. She was a lifelong communicant of St John’s Church in Slatersville, a member of St Anne’s Sodality, the YMCA wives’ club, and a member of the North Smithfield Democratic Committee, as well the RI Democratic Committee, where she served as state committeewoman. She was also a member of the North Smithfield Senior Citizens Association as well as the Nature Lovers Camping Association.
She is survived by two sons; Donald Plouffe of Harrisville, and Richard Plouffe of North Smithfield, two daughters; Arlene Plouffe of North Smithfield, and Paulette Michaud also of North Smithfield, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Cecile Lapierre.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. John’s Church Slatersville. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm.
