Obituary

METHUEN - Warren B. Greathead, 77, a resident of Methuen, and formerly of Lowell, died Friday, January 23rd at Saints Medical Center, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lowell on November 11, 1931, the son of the late John and Florence (Kydd) Greathead. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1949. He received a bachelors degree in animal husbandry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mr. Greathead served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Austria, during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed for 15 years as a postal worker for the United States Postal Service at the Middlesex/Essex General Mail Facility in Reading. Earlier in his life, he, along with his mother Florence, owned and operated Nickels Dairy on Boston Rd. in Lowell before its closing in 1978.

Mr. Greathead was an avid fan of his beloved Boston Red Sox as well as the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren J. and M. Lisa Greathead of Methuen, and William B. and Arlene J. Greathead of Lowell; and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Nicole, Erin, and Jacob Greathead.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 3 until 7 PM. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the funeral home.
