Obituary

Worcester - Joseph P. Rauktis, 86, of 16 Assabet Lane and formerly of Harwich, MA died on Wednesday May 21 in the home of his daughter in law Janet Rauktis after an illness.

He leaves his wife M. Florence (Viens) Rauktis of Worcester; two sons J. Peter Rauktis of Worcester and Kenneth C. Rauktis Sr. of Charlton; a daughter Christine E. Cook of Worcester; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Rauktis was born in Worcester son of Dominikas and Annie(Mikuzis) Rauktis and lived in Worcester for most of his life.

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II where he attained the rank of Staff Seargent.

Mr. Rauktis worked for U.S. Envelope Company for 35 years as a pressman until the company closed in 1974. He then worked for Davis Press Company for 6 years retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Christ the King Church and a former member of St. Joan of Arc Church. Mr. Rauktis was also an avid bowler and card player.

The funeral will be held on Friday May 23 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street with a Mass at 10 AM in Christ The King Church 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are on Thursday May 22 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church 1052 Pleasant Street Worcester, MA 01602 or to the American Heart Association.
