Joanne Elizabeth Haney, 79, of Summerville, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Summerville Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 at 1 o’clock at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Summerville. Rite of Committal will be private.
Friends may call at the church from 4 until 6 o’clock Sunday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Theresa Catholic Church Building Fund, In memory of Joanne, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
Joanne was born June 18, 1929 in New York City, a daughter of the late Julius St. Cyr Watson and Louisa Braswell Watson. She was a graduate of schools in Atlanta, Georgia. She enjoyed cooking, reading and loved spending time with her family. She lived a long, full life taking great pride in her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling. Her most recent trips were to China, The Holy Land, Egypt, Ireland, Scotland and Italy. She retired as an Administrative Assistant with Summerville Medical Center after 20 years service in November 2008.
Surviving are her children:
Donna Leigh and George Gozik of Marriottsville, Maryland, Sherry and Doyle Church of Summerville, Jeanne Haney and Chip Dox of LaCanada, California, Carlyn Smith of Santa Barbara, California and Lise and Carl Geller of LaCanada, California.
16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Her children agree that her greatest accomplishment was producing a family who loves another and who are not just siblings, but close friends.
