Worcester - Roland E. Fontaine, 82, of 52 Millbury Street formerly of Sutton died Tuesday May 20 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus after an illness.
Mr. Fontaine leaves a sister in law Pauline (Benoit) Fontaine of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceasedby two brothers Theodore and Ernest Fontaine of Worcester. He was born in Worcester son of Emery and Alfreda (Poutre) Fontaine.
Mr. Fontaine worked as a machinist for Millbury Engineering Corporation, General Machine Tool and Worcester Tool and Die before operating Fontaine Grinding Company retiring in 1982.
The funeral will be held on Friday May 23 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois Street. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours are on Friday May 23 in the funeral home from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
